Rui brilliant contact, thanks for that. Seems he has the ability and now needs people to order so the overall price comes down.

so quick update. I have with me a 12 kilogram package of parts needed to do a proper SA conversion on the SC. Oh and i've also picked up a load of old vintage AA badges, they'll add to the overall look.

Next step, Dubai and home...

I travel all the time, nothing compares to the c**ts that are the south african customs service at the airport. You are nothing but a bunch of greedy, corrupt idiots who ruin the image of this country.

Rooting through peoples bags like hyenas around a campfire.

with that rant over, managed to get this chunk of metal through after an argument with a chief c**t who thought it was illegal to bring in. yes mate, metal is now illegal.
let's get this project started.

I know the feeling, some years ago. I bought some dollies "sp" (solid metal shaping tool) for a pannel beater that worked at TAK motors.
I got stopped at customs in the nothing to declare counter they unpacked all my stuff to take a good look at what I had. They put the dollies thru the X-ray about 5 times, then wanted to charge me duties, they requested invoices, I didin't have, when they looked thru their list they were unable to find "dollies" in their tool list, they had no idea what I should be charged for, in the end they asked me what the value was, I gave them a silly R value like R20 each, they were actually a shit load more, and had to pay VAT on that value, IDIOTS, what realy pissed me off is they took my chorico (portuguese sausage) as no food items were allowed. :finger4u: The probably landed up eating it cause it didin't go in the bin.
For what it's worth, ignorance has no limits ......

Haha! If you delete the "South" out of South Africa, I would agree 100%. Right now I'm at 99%.

I brought a friend's laptop in once to have data recovered off the crashed drive after which it was destined for the recycle bin. They wanted me to pay duties too. I told them it's broken and if they could get it to work, I would pay the duties... They tried for a while and then let me go. But that was some years ago when there were slope heads working there that knew they were slope heads. Now you have slope heads that think they are rocket scientists.

the problem is when you give a man a badge.

I once came back from the U.K and bought six dumpvalves of the 5cyl Audi motors from a wreckers yard, no lets be honest they do look a little "suspect" and when the scanner picked them up all hell broke loose ! I was made to put them in a bin at Heathrow since they "looked dangerous" !And i did not have any invoices ,No ammount of pleading and explaining could make em change their minds, Now i ask you if they were dangerous ...is it then ok to leave em in a bin at the airport ? So if you wanna blow up a airport its ok just dont take em on a plane !!
My biggest fear is that my wife sells my cars for what i told her they cost !!

Maybe you shouldn't have had them in your hand luggage...

Lagos and Port Harcourt were always a challenge. They'd have your shoes if they could.

DSAN, that is the nature of a car resto as you know, ups and downs.

Keep heart,go look at a couple of pretty SC pictures (and no, not SeatCovers, Single Cabs), and your motivation will be up a notch in no time.

not loosing the faith, I guess I'm progress driven and having seen this poor one sit for a while now, it's eaten away at me.

I have, however, been told plans are afoot. The smile is back on my face.
