use imageshack

The reason the forum quota is used up is because too many people place too many pictures on the forum that can be hosted elsewhere.

It takes 2 min to post a picture in photobucket and then it is there permanently. Then you dont need to re-host it on the forum again if you want to use it for a second or third time (if you cant find where you put it the first time).

The problem is Photobucket pictures expires and are deleted, then these threads lose their pictures, or if the data was exceeded you do not see the pictures. I started an external blog because of this for my project.

I really think Eben should disable this option of uploading images on the forum's servers or whatever because every month we will be having threads like these

So simple to create a photobucket, picasa etc album and host your pictures there....

With Photobucket, your pictures won't expire, they'll only be removed from your threads if you delete the pictures from Photobucket itself. I have 3 photobucket accounts, so far have not had any issues with them with missing pictures or bandwidth running out or whatever. Really as simple as that.

Or even better, host them on Thesamba...they'll be there forever and can used on any forums.
If it's too low, you're too old

my pics have not expired.... opened my account 5 years ago and they still all there, plus I have 460MB of space left.

Unfortunately Sarel, without trying to sound negative - the issue with creating a blog then posting the link to the forum, which then leads to an album and you then have to search for the picture of the engine (for example) that you are talking about when it is picture number 17 in the album but the album opens on picture number 1, is that people (myself included) loose interest simply because it becomes too much effort to follow the thread anymore.

If your pics are ACVW related then post them in the thesamba.com galleries and link to them. Much better than photobucket, etc, which are often disabled for people accessing the internet from work.

Tony & others,
Not perceived as negative, it is just what it is.

I started my build thread on here, posted images by uploading. I am set up for my photography on Flickr and sometimes also Picasa. These have been going for a few years already. I am getting gatvol posting the same things everywhere, so when the wall was hit here I created the blog. No limits on pictures, sizes or anything. All in line in proper order and Google search works great. Also nothing expires or are deleted or blocked.

Because of the fact that pictures here can no longer be uploaded here (yes I understand all the reasons, and photobucket too) my build thread does not make sense as I can only link to Flicker, the pics don't appear in line. Some you win, others not. Now I update my pictures on Flicker as always, and post the blog. You can follow the blog, or not, your choice. :hangloose:

Exactly the reasons I have my own site for for my project. It is very unfair to expect Eben to pay for the hosting of this site as it is. Posting pictures here is an incredible drain on a limited resource. Doing your own blog is no longer an issue, and the costs has been reduced to nothingness. If you have an interesting blog, you could even make money off of it.

The problem to be clear on Photobucket, if you don't sign on to your account for several months, the pictures are archived until you sign on again...hence are lost from here.

So as not to be negative....solution, sign on to photobucket at least monthly and post pictures here! :D

Photobucket has a download bandwidth limit as well for each account. As I prefer to use use very large pictures, this limit is easy to exceed and then the image do not display.
