Christmas came early - 72 Westy (Photo's added)

Post by Pepsicola »

After talking to Fig yesterday, i became the very proud owner of a 1972 lowlight Bay Westy.
Fetched the Westy last night that was to be placed on the web for the Poms to steal. (RSA +1 - Poms -1)
Drove it home, but oil consumption was 5l on the 28 km. (Sorry that is leaking, not consuming)

Spoken to Bugger this morning, so will have to use the tools this week-end.
If anybody have an extra workshop manual for the Bay's please let me know.
Will post photo's later today.

Yes, '72 will have low indator lights up front, but the large tail lights, and the later (non-halfmoon) rear engine vent.

Pics, Pepsi? :wtf:

You are totally correct, asked the Fig on Monday, and he told me the same thing.

Pine I was asking because I dunno if they only produced the crossovers in 1972. Did they only produce x-overs?

Congratulations Pepi! :hangloose: Sweet westy!

The furniture behind the bulkhead is non-original, and it looks like it may also be missing the folding table? How's the Z-bed and rear cabinets? My 69 westy is also missing the bulkhead furniture (ice box with sink and water pump, and wooden-based seat), and I prefer it that way. :)

Happy camping! :hangloose:

That configuration was 72 only. The 1972 model year ran from 8/71 to 7/72.

Wow that is really sweet! Mine is also a '72 with all of the original Westfalia furniture but with a Dormobile roof. Thanks for the info above - I didn't realise that the '72 was so different from others.

I have a workshop manual, it's in a terrible state with many loose pages but it's complete and yours if ya want it.

Congradulations, it looks really nice in yellow and with the white roof.

It looks as if it has the type 4 motor by looking at the exhaust, which one is it? Not sure if I am 100% correct but it should be the 1700 for that age. Have you found were all that oil leaked from yet?
