headwork

Post by Tony Z »

A couple of pics of a job I am busy with, I am hoping to finish the job tomorrow.....
Pics are only of the one head, which isnt complete yet

Heads as I received them
Image

After having the heads cut for higher compression
Image

Full chamber reshaping with old valves in place.
Head also checked for correct volume - 44cc on left, 44.5cc on right - close enough
Image

more to follow as the job progresses

The pictures of the ports didnt come out at all and the box is now sealed.
Inlets and exhaust ports were worked for better and straighter flow
Manifolds were also match ported to the heads.

when I received them they were bone stock 30yo twin port heads

If you have a single carb you will get nothing out of porting the heads.

Centre mount 38 dncl weber downdraught...the carb does make a big differance got the stock 34 pict back on as my dad is using the motor in his daily driver at moment bacause it was heavy on juice but with the stock carb it doesnt sound like it has worked cam in but with the big carb you can cleary hear the cam and it revs like a bike...but im sure with some head work i might pull some more ponnies or what?

possibly, but my experience with center mount carbs is that you will get more out if you do something about the manifold - they are usually pretty crap and restricted inside.
