Lowering your car in South Africa

Um, if anything your tail is sitting high! drop your tail end and the front wont look so bad as too draw attention. If the car is sitting at an angle then its obvoius it has been dropped, if it sits level then you will be able to get away with it or so would my guess be.

I am planning on dropping the rear... i'm just scarred that i'll make it too low.

Its too low when the road is coming through the pan due to the scraping, 5mm higher = perfect

Pah, my one car was like 20mm - 30mm off the ground on level surface - it tore chunks in the grass, was a disaster to get off a truck, caught the gearbox on tiny bumps, and is nearly scrapping when a tire goes flat. What a nightmare. There is a thing as too low. I rate 100mm is the lowest for a road car. the more common exotics are between 100mm and 150mm as far as i know...

its probably those same two speedcops from shucks shabalalla who got punkd with the lhd beemer. iow assholes with a god complex thanks to their badges.

On the other side of the fence however, i do see the point in what herman says, i hate tazz's dropped so low they cant climb a molehill. and technically the handling excuse wont matter to the law as you are not supposed to exceed the designers limits on the road, i mean my beetle is up high and I am forever over the speed limit and have no problems cornering... it actually sits in a long bend and short corners better than most citi, tazz, yaris, gets, etc that i usually chase up n down town.

The lowest point on my kombi is exactly 100mm.
I have never been pulled over but have recieved some weird looks from the traffic cops. It is not my everyday car so maybe I have been lucky to have never been pulled over.

I hate driving behind buses coz you cant see the road ahead, lol but i dont mind cruising behind any volkswagen

except a fat woman driving an amarok eating kfc while travelling at 5kph

My car was very tail happy when it was still high, and after i got lower profile and wider tires my car looked stupid with this HUGE gap between the wheel and the fender, so i lowered it and i wanted it to look more sportier and mean, so i lowered it abit more,..

This is the look I'm going for... but a ratlook version of that.

I prefer the polished fuchs to the black and polished ones.
Weird how personal tastes work.
But then again, i am not a fan of Fuchs all that much

Haha, yeah.. but as long the Beetle or any aircooled VW look remains in your car.
I like the whole rat-look thing...
And the fact that when you dont have lots of money to restore a classic VW, you can get one from the scrapyard lower it , but some nice wheels on it, and off you go
