Hi my name is Herman i have owned a few Beatles over my 39 years.
I am currently rebuilding a 1968 Beach Buggy that i have owned and used for 8 years.
The pan and all mechanical has being done and i am awaiting my shell to be returned by the spray painter by next week, reassembly can then take place and hopefully by end of Feb I can join on local events in the JHB./Pretoria aria.

Hi All,

Just introducing myself from Ballarat, Victoria, Australia.
We only have 2 VW's in the family these days (down from 5). Our 62 Split Dual Cab Ute & a 68 Notch. The notch is lovely but will probably turn into a full resto in the next few months.

The 62 DC is my baby... The engine is a 2 litre converted to upright cooling with a Sharpbuilt conversion kit. It has a VForce cam with straight cut timing gears (can’t remember cam specs but it was torquey and revs about 700 higher than stock – like an Engle 110 for a type 1 motor). Carbs are 40mm Weber IDFs. Heads are 1800 bus heads (biggest valved stock type IV heads). Clutch and pressure plate are 1800 bus. External oil cooler fitted. Engine/carbs are blueprinted and balanced.

The 68 Notch... as i said still unsure, but in the next few months there will be some changes... lowered, Turtle Backs added, interior re-done & engine played with

Why Shaven? ....... see you jump to conclusions & your wrong already  its just becuase of my old bald head  Sign in with that user name on all the VW forums. I aslo enjoy golf, surfing, a beer & a bet & spending time with the family. (you ask why im up at 2.06am in the morning & NOT cuddled up with my beautiful wife??? Because the Fig went angry om me & bloody said to say hello to you bunch... yes i have been a member since 2008 :hangloose:

Any you lot like Cricket or Rugby??? This could be fun... :finger4u:

Cheers
Matty

I'm a newbie who stumbled across your forum and liked what he saw. My son has a '74 Beetle and I'm funding and supporting it's upkeep and restoration.

Hi All

My Name is Jannie, Been into mainly Beetle's my whole life but is in the process of restoring a early bay bus that i purchased from a school, Im the second owner since new so you can emagine what the buss's condition is after a few thousand kids have been through it over the last 40 odd years. At least its still road worthy and on the road and has been maintained very well over the year.

Got big plans for the bus and hope to see and meet all of you at the next get together,Great forum by the way, Very glad to be able to chat to other vw freaks.

Have a good one

Jannie

Thanx Fig will do.

I bought the bus from Concordia primary school in Boksburg after many months of begging, they decided to let it go,It stood in a garage for around 3 years and went to fetch it with the idea of towing it back home. it was not to be. with very little effort i got it going and drove it back home.Slight mis fire but still managed 110 km/h with little effort.
Very happy with my purchase. No signage on it as the school had it re sprayed.Recently found out that it was built in West Germany, its complete with only one issue and that would be the rear bumper and brackets been missing . Will post pics ASAP.
