Re: New Members - Introduce yourself..
Welcome,
You have stated that you in Fourways, but please update your profile under location, as it always helps when guys are needed for help or spares.
Also photos help to identify the model and year, as there are some VW experts here that can Identify a screw age and model year at 50 paces
Enjoy the forum, not only for parts but info and friends.......

Re: New Members - Introduce yourself..
Good afternoon everyone,
Name's Christiaan and I live in Centurion Gauteng.
I have always admired the splitties of old and nowadays find myself in the position where I can finally start realising my dream of acquiring one.
Obviously tricking it out a bit along the way as well...
Currently I am in the market as it were and would appreciate any help in obtaining one in fair condition.
I'm really not phased too much, all I want is a reliable van (engine wise ) prefferably with no rust. colour is also not too much of a muchness.
I look forward to learning from all of you !

Re: New Members - Introduce yourself..
Hi My name is Harry Harris and I live in Pretoria.
I have the privelage to call my self a New Member. Found out about ACVWSA from a spares supplier. Thanks to Stuart of VW Friends in Pta. I have been a VW vehicle owner for the past 46 years and have owned about 22 various VW but who's counting?
I now own a '68 Beatle that I found under a tree where it was parked for 7 years. I was fortunate that VW's being such superior manufactured products it took me a weekend to clean and start it. I have been using it daily now for 4 years trouble free. (She needed some tlc and I had a lot to give and she gave me back her loyalty since.)
I have recently been blessed to be able to lay my hands on a '69 Kombi Bus of Brazilian decent described as a bay window bus with barn doors. This new member of my vehicle family is the reason that I have joined this esteem group of VW devotees. I therefore ask if any of you owners of Kombi's can put me onto a person that may have a steering box for my Kombi, I would realy appreciate it. It is a cast iron type.
I have a running chasis of a Beatle (pan with wheels and gearbox) that I would like to build it into a kit kar and will realy appreciate some of the groups esteemed advice on such a project.
I am in the market for a Carman Gia if someone might have one for sale or can point me to someone that is looking for a good home for one of their loved ones.
Have a VW Bug filled Day and be Blessed for owning one.

Re: New Members - Introduce yourself..
Howdy all, I'm pete of england. Left my bug at home and currently seeking an AC CT run about! Any advice on where to look? Gumtree seems pretty good, but would rather buy from members on here, however the cars for sale thread doesn't seem to work ?
Thanks
Pete
Thanks

Re: New Members - Introduce yourself..
So I am totally new to this. always loved vw old buses. thinking about buying one to tour south africa (+/6000kms). met a very friendly and open guy yesterday who was as honest as they come. problem is, do we buy a bus (one in mind is 1800 1975, great nick on outside, ususal 35-40 year old decay inside). would really love to be able to do it up in 4 weeks and take it across south africa but would love some advice on wether all the vw-fundi's out there actually think it is a good idea... will we make it and if we have appointments and about 150kms a day to travel, will reliability get in way?
as you can see, i am a total newbie, lacking mechanical technical know how and blinded by the simple awesomeness of the combi. any help, tips, advice and the rest always welcome... thanks
