Ultimate barnfind- Convertible D

Post by vw59beetle »

I recently added a car to my collection that I have dreamed about since I was a young boy. It is a Porsche Convertible D built in 1959. It was the last year the Speedster was made. The car has been standing for more than 30 years and I can not wait to get the project started. You can read the whole story at http://www.aircooledwonders.com/feature ... l-adds-up/

Sambas in South Africa are good for only 2 things: showing off and sunburn.

Thanks for all the good wishes guys. There are a lot of exciting stuff happening right now. The main one is a workshop(garage) for Aircooledwonders to restore the projects that have build up over the last year . The first project is my 1959 Beetle that belonged to my grandfather . This car is closest to my heart . I have a few more ideas in store that will include all air cooled fanatics. I'll let you know whats in store as soon as I'm settled.

Wow, you lucky, lucky man you!!!

That is the ultimate in aircooled cars!

What are the plans, taking 10 years and doing it slowly or within 5 years?

I just hope you'll keep it in SA, there must be a LOT of money after it from across the water?

All the best with the restoration.

Thx Mario
It shouldn't take more than a year or two . I restore cars full time. Don't worry about the car leaving SA. I don't support exporting our classic cars. That was one of the reasons we bought the car.
