Let's see how well you know your air cooled engines

Post by vw59beetle »

Hey guys
A while back I posted this picture on my website and asked if anyone knew what it was. There were no takers. Let's see if you air cooled freaks know what it is. If you get it right I'll treat you with the final product. Let's just say it's my favorite air cooled engine.

Sambas in South Africa are good for only 2 things: showing off and sunburn.

Paul You are on the right track. This is only the one half of the engine, the other side looks the same.

I have to agree, if it's your favourite, has to be a porsche.
I would have thought the later Porsche racing engines (956, 962 etc) are pretty special, but that might be too obvious and they have a few more cylinders :D .

So my guess would be a 356 engine and to make it a little more special maybe a four cam?

Tell me your cab is getting a four cam  !

I consider all air cooled engines special. :D
This is a car Werner Alker bought yesterday. It is pretty original and will replace the(very rusty) SP he already has. Image
