64 Split Crew Bus Restoration
I am restoring a 64 Split window crew bus. The chassis is very rusted. I can only use the main frame. I do have access to a 1972 Bay window crew bus with a chassis which is OK. Will it be possible to fit the 64 Splitty body on the bay window chassis. If so are there any major pitfalls. Any help or suggestions will be welcome.

Re: 64 Split Crew Bus Restoration
While it's not impossible to replace the chassis frame on a VW bus, it's not a simple process as the body/chassis are of unitary construction, unlike on a Beetle where the body is bolted to the chassis.
It may also be possible to use some baywindow parts for split bus body repairs, but the work involved in cutting and reshaping is probably not worth it.
You'd be better off contacting Splitbusahollic and buying some of his Klassicfab repair panels. Whatever they cost will be cheaper in the long run than what you propose.

Re: 64 Split Crew Bus Restoration
I have actually dismantled a split bus and have a complete Chassis available
But I can also help you fitting some of the repair panels to make your bus sound again
Where in SA are you ?
