Kestrel buggy

Hi Guys Bought this beach Buggy the weekend. Thinking its a kit car centre salamander Buggy. After inspection found out that its a Kestrel Buggy.
But doesn't bother me because its still a Buggy and that's what wanted.

If any body got info on this type buggy I would be really glad.

Hi Guys

So started with the engine and new frame and floor for the buggy.
Engine of

Started stripping

Ring gaps

Washing the parts

And the Gbox

Started to refit and aline the nose cone before we covered it with 6mm plate

So saw a nice Idea on a forum for a new floor and started with it

Welded in and the top fitted to see if it lines up

And then started with the inner supports

All finished

Then I went on to the wiring

Almost sorted. Took out the wires that was extra. Added the standard turn signal switch. And started to rewire the clocks lights.

And that's it for know. Will be getting the engine parts this week and sanblasting the wheels.

good to see the progress.
Your ring gaps... probably what happened was someone installed new 1600 rings onto an oversized piston. I once paid someone how came highly recommended to replace my rings. Couldnt for the life of me figure out why I had so much blowby afterwards. Was told they will run in. When I took the engine apart I found they were std rings on a 1.5mm oversize piston... similar issue to what you found

Also thought that. When first started it, it blew of the oil cap from all the blowby. But must say. once I got the carb tuned. it started first kick every time. Too bad it smocked like mad. Thanx for the info

Nice work I have the same Kestrell buggy, but I do not like the shape, hence the sale to Cedric so luckily I have another body which I think is a Loletta
I see that yours is a LWB
Done the same kind of frame on my buggy pan
Keep up the good work and post lots of pics

This is not that bad. When it comes to body panels it gets hard.

Hi Guys

Started with the front suspension

The steering box before

The steering test fitted with the drums

And fitted the pedals. Clutch working, Petrol working and the brake pedal also. Was the biggest problem for me. Because the floor was lifted and this is still in the original place. But will just drop the floor where the pedals sits.

The motor has been redone and starts like a dream. Just need a alternator to replace the broken generator.

and the sleeve setup for the petrol cable and the brake line(still to be fitted) going to the back.

The front wheels will be fitted this week and then I can fit the floor plates. Then the chassis is complete and ready for the body.

That's it for now. Buggy will be running by the end of the month.

Hi Guys

Just a small update.
Buggy is on 4 wheels again. Brakes are working and so does everything else.
Just need the plates for the floor to keep you from driving Flintstones style

And just 2 pics of painting the wheel after they where sandblasted.

Need to do the back ones still.

Only other thing still needed is the alternator.
Then the body can go back on for a test drive.

Looking for some seats for the buggy. Does any body have nice seats that could work with the buggy?

Looking at your Kestrell body I assume that there were different moulds.
On the back of the body where the black strip is it is quite thin whereas mine is very broad probably about 25cm as well as the wheel arches.
