I wish VWUSA will get off it's ass and bring us the POLO range, they promise every year but never come thru. And as we are at it give us the AMAROK too.

You do not need the full range in my opinion, all you need is the SA inspired & build "Cross Polo"

what issues did the s4 give?

The main issue was reliability.
Starter packed up twice.
I replaced all five tires (previous owner practically destroyed them)
electronics acted up at times
Brakes were shot.
The dealer from whom I have bought 6 previous cars actually mis reperesented the car as faultless with a full history. which was not the case
The fuel consumption hovered around 6km to a liter and was best on the open raoad at 120 at 10.
The fourwheel drive made it feel like a tank albeit an extremely prescision fast tank. The seats (electric recaros were too fussy for me and I never got them to my satisfaction.
I took a R32600 hit with that car and am very glad to see the last of it. The dealer who traded it had a breakdown the next day
As strange as it may sound I derived much more satisfaction from the 1.8 turbo a4 that preceded it and the Polo is actually a car that puts a grin on my face. Its not fast but its responsive nice steering feel rev happy and has the right amount of doors

I really dig the polo vivo GT, it's a lot along the lines as the old Mk1 GTi.

I think that you're spot on with the S4. Do you think that your ownership issues would of been different if it was better cared for by the previous owner, or do you think that it's just one of those Audi things?

How many km did the S4 have on it when you two parted ways anyway?

Audi set out to compete along technological lines and added so much technology for technology's sake that the car just doesnt last. It had 178000 kilometers which on all my previous Audi's was still perfect. To put it in Perspective My 1.8 Turbo could do 230 and the S4 260 My mates lumina with a 60 year old engine design also does that but at better consumption and easier maintenance.
I also think the Polo is closer to the fun factor of older VW's Reminds me of an SP beetle as well

I think that all car companies suffer from the same thing, not just Audi when it comes to tech. You'll never get a electronic part to last as long as a mechanical part.

My fuel pump and injectors were done over on my isuzu the other day and a 3.0d X5 was being worked on next to mine having the exact same thing done. Mine was done at 200 000kms, his was being done at 100 000kms. Mine cost R8500, his cost R32 000.

You have a nice cabbie there...........looks damn neat in stock form already.

The problem with electronic parts, is that they can build failure into it, and you will not ever know.

So if you fail to have the dealer reset the electronic part at the right service interval, the part will fail.

So now they sell you a overpriced part and blame you for lack of maintenance.
