as long as you dont actually try to break the gearbox, it will be strong enough for the 2.1
If your intention is to break the gearbox, you can accomplish that with a stock 1300

I just recently fitted a 1.9 wbx to my bug, doable but lot's and lot's of work and $$$, if you dont feel sorry for the car by cutting into the body here and there, lotsa guages and wiring needed, to be done, not a simple task if your'e not an autolec but if it's your "thang" go for it :hangloose:

The fuel rails will need to be modified or the body needs to be cut to get them in. Will also need a diffrent 215 or 210 flyweel & clutch, or you can butcher the box and get a 2.1 starte with a spacer.
Then all wiring as well as elec fuel pump with return.
For what it's worth, ignorance has no limits ......

For me the 2.1 with stock EFI is still one of the best conversions in a Bug and they are super reliable when done right
I am busy with a 2.1 Turbo in a Beetle

if you got the std computer and wiring it is Easy as Pie to make it work in the beetle with stock harnass you need + to the battery and + From Ign and away you go
Adapterplates Available for Rotary in Beetle and others aswell
And Special Boxes built for Rotary Conversions and Scubies
