I'm interested in a DIY Heating device.. Like a boxed hair dryer i guess, or similar concept. You seen anything like that?

Re: Aircon for you ACVW
Only thing I can think of is the old Eberspacher heaters or making your heater boxes supply heat to the inside of your car, or these Propex units from just campers.

These are quite pricey Alan, so maybe some of your ingenuity can fashion a DIY unit?

Re: Aircon for you ACVW
Hi the original speedster design (replica) piped the hot air from the std beetle heater to outlets on the side of the car as well as for windscreen demisting and although most sa speedsters were not equipped it is actually a simple matter to accomplish I would not want to remove that perfect carpet though

Jaa, I've got no problem fabricating\fitting ducting etc.. I just want the HEATER.. Not using the old exhaust heat concept..
I want a hair dryer concept. Fit in the nose of the car, flexible ducting into the cabin under the dash aimed at leg area. Simple.

Re: Aircon for you ACVW
Aircon would be nice but maybe a DIY solution would be less $$?
In winter the wife complains about the cold and I was thinking maybe heated seats from some Golf GTI or other car can help as alternative to the exhaust heater. It wont heat the car but your back and bottom will be nice n warm. You will probably not want to change the seats in a replica so maybe you can use heaters from another seat and build them into the seats you want to use?

Re: Aircon for your ACVW
Alan, your biggest problem will be that you are not heating a space, but rather hoping for direct heat.
Anything you plan to use will have to be roughly 500W or bigger.
The poor little 35A alternator wont coke with this. You will need to upgrade to a 70A or 90A alternator minimum, then upgrade the wiring to suit
Only then can you even begin to look for options
I'd think a dog dryer would work... 2000W...
