Not a Brasilia

Well @Tony, we Filled her up, and did the 1st stage of the trip "back home" on your behalf.
Drove from Port Elizabeth to Jefferys Bay, to place the van into storage, till You stop bobbing up and down on the big waves.
With the lack of engine rubbers, I chose to ride with the back hatch up, as it was a real hot day, and did not want to chance an repeat of a other fateful trip , also to Jefferys Bay.
She drove real well, no problems, steady 80Kph, and stopped off for tea.
Then we when to pick up Johan "Eagle", and drove down to the secret Workshop, to secure the Van awaiting its Boss to collect it.
We lifted it onto Dolly's, and caressed it into its hibernation space.
Noting like getting the troops involved.
And Tony, Here be the Vans caretaker, till you get back, good hands for sure.
Safe trip home, buddy.
Herman

Something you will like for your kombi, especially with the modifications you plan:
(4ch CHT and EGT gauge, South African made, around R1446):
http://www.mglavionics.co.za/velocity.html (Scroll down to TC2). These are 80mm diameter. It could be mounted so that the mounting ears are behind/not visible, then it will appear round. Also available in smaller size at similar price. In a Baywindow, one option is to build a little mounting bridge, to house instruments, above the rearview mirror below the rooflining.
Actually heard about this cht gauge from a ACVW guy in the USA who highly recommend it. The US people have their "Dakota Digital" which seems not supported outside the USA. MGL Avionics is an international company based in Somerset West. Their products are manufactured in the Western Cape. Not sure if they sell direct to the public, But Comet Aviation sells their products.
They also sell a variety of CHT and EGT thermocouple probes. The TC2 can be used to display 4 thermocouples. This can be a combination of 2 CHT and 2 EGT, or 4 CHT, etc. There is also the TC3 which can do a total of 12 thermocouples.
http://cometaviationsupplies.co.za/inde ... 097&page=3
By the way, i personally have no experience with the product and do not personally know any of the people at above companies. It is just that there is often requests about a good engine temperature gauge, and this seems a good buy.
Oil temp gauges only show the temp of less than 10% of what goes on in the aircooled engine. Oil temp is not directly related to CHT. Cht gauge shows temp of the other 90%, and it's reaction is instantaneous.
Hope this helps...

Staying Aircooled is so much nicer.

Thanks for that Dawie. that is great info.
I have two Dakota digital gauges in ANGRRR and they each cost more than what you mention above to monitor all 4 plugs. If only I knew at the time....

I want a panel van too. I guess I should sell my camper and get on the hunt for a van or just have both. Your van look the bees knees. Have fun and enjoy it.
