removing the reduction gears from a barndoor baywindow bus
i need to put a set of 17 inch rims on my fleetline. but i dont have the clearance .. what do i do.

"Barndoor" and "baywindow" are from opposite ends of the ACVW bus spectrum and the two never came together.superfly wrote:barndoor baywindow bus
A barndoor bus is a pre 3/55 bus, with no vent/peak above the windscreen, and the huge engine hatch (hence barndoor).
Barndoor does NOT refer to the hinged side doors.
Fleetline was the model name given by VWSA to the throwback Brazilian split bus assembled here from 1/75 to 3/76.
Your bus sounds like a Brazilian baysplit hybrid, which replaced the Fleetline from 76 to 78. These were not called Fleetline. I think they may have been called Brasilia.
I doubt there's any way to fit 17in wheels in a bus without hacking and tubbing.
Oh, and by the way, lowered buses are totally played out ...

so lowering is not a good idea .
so what type of bus do i have .it has the bay window . with barn doors and like the split window suspension and a small rear window. that you 4 the advice.

any pics yet , i have 15 inch at the moment fits fine , i need to fit 17 inch , wanted to know if the bay window drum fit on the fleetline.. from beetle pcd to late baywindow. thank you.
