Hi guys,
so the tank's out the Speedy, and this little gauze filter is from the bottom of my tank.. The wire mesh has separated at the base from water\rusting. Any idea where I can get a replacement new item?

Actually, the top end is perfect, so I've fastened it to the pipe and sealed with heatshrink. Should keep the crap out..
Also cleaned out a VERY dirty fueltank.. So hope that should solve my issues.

If you have a normal fuel filter near your engine somewhere is there still a need for the filter mesh in the tank cause I removed mine it was messed up .

Ja I also once introduced an unknown (which was not fuel resistant) piece of plastic in my fuel tank the stuff dissolved over time and stranded me big time so check on that piece of heatshrink please

If its a pvc based heatshrink tube, you should immerse a test piece in petrol for a while to see if there is a reaction, like if the material swells and so on.
If its a polyolefin type tube, you should test it any way, but you will probably find that its fine for the Job. - a thing to watch is if the tube has an adhesive coating the inside of the tube. - this can be can be an issue because not too many of these are petrol resistant, and turn into a gooye mess after immersion which can clog a lot of components up.

Some feedback. This sudden "jerking" wasn't fuel either, but "possibly" the live wired going through the side of the Distributor, or that's what I'm hoping it was. Had a few splutters again at crawling speed, or pulling off from a robot, so that blew the fuel issue out the window. Pulled my Distributor and gave it a good once over. It is old, and I will replace it, but the plast mount through the side of the Disti is pretty loose. I've tightened all up and Siliconed to help keep in place. Went for a 5 minute here and there, jerked the car, went over bumps, all seems ok for now.
Things are not always as they seem...
