We stopped using the post office over 5 years ago and I'll tell you that was the best decision I ever made. I will gladly pay more for courier service any day. ANY DAY! When you pay peanuts you get monkeys and that's just what the PO is ... a bunch of overpaid monkeys. If you saw how parcels are handled there you would never ever use them again. I'm not even talking about the theft problem which is rife there.

Nee wat, hulle kan maar in hulle moer vlieg.

So maybe the original ad on Gumtree was not a rip off.

Agreed with Stutz, I'm in the process of bringing in a performance Clutch for my Suzuki Burgman from China, and willr ather kak the R 1 700-00 Courier fee's and have it here in 2 weeks, than deal with the farking SAPO! It's game over as far as that shit goes for real.. Guys wanting to buy Kombi and beetle stuff overseas need to join together and contribute to the shipping costs via a Courier, that way you guarantee receiving your much-needed items.

Muds, next time you (or in fact ANYBODY) decides to do an import from the UK, PLEASE offer others a chance to contribute so we can all carry Import costs.. This shouldn't be about trying to profit off others, but more about aircooled teamwork.

Let's try to identify the ACVW parts suppliers who have good bulk deals with couriers and pass the savings on to their customers.

I ordered some parts from Mercedes-Benz Classic Centre in California (via a middleman, as they don't sell online). The parts were delivered to my door by Fedex in three days, total cost including Fedex R8,500, vs R10,000 from a local supplier who wouldn't order them unless I paid for them first. Fedex also dealt with Customs on my behalf.
