I run an advert on Gumtree which reads as follows:
We buy VW Kombi's, Westfalia's and campers from 1969 - 1979 for cash to restore for our Classic Camper Hire business. If you have a kombi to sell countrywide, please email contact details and pics to: classiccamperhire@mweb.co.za. We only buy running vehicles, and pay from R 30 000 upwards depending on condition.
We also pay a finders fee of up to 10% of the final purchase price to people who find us kombi's. The kombi's in the attached pics are campers we have actually bought and restored. So get in touch with your leads...

For some reason, people then contact me asking me to send them my 'catalogue' of kombi's for sale - as if a Westfalia or Devon camper are a dime a dozen. It seems that many do not realise how rare our beloved kombi's have become. Nowhere in my advert do I ever say I sell vehicles - so much for the reading and comprehension skills of some people. Today I had a response which had me almost choking on my supper...
