Hi to everyone here at ACVWSA!

My name is Nick and I am the proud owner of a '78 Beetle which am (and have been for some time now) trying to fix and get back on the road.

I missed this topic earlier but i recently started a project topic, so I won't go ahead repeating myself here: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=35666

Really looking forward to getting to know some of you and the inspiring builds going on here and there!

Hi all.

I'm very excited to discover the existence of this forum - the Samba is a great resource but nothing beats local knowledge!
I have a 1970-something type 1 that I am slowly restoring, and another type 1 kit that needs a lot of body work. And of course, learning as I go. Currently halfway through a fuel pump replacement because the beetle's sump was filling with petrol.

Now that I've introduced myself, anyone know where I can get a copy of the Bentley manual that won't cost almost R800+? Since that is the price on loot.co.za but isn't good for my budget haha!

These are the only pics I could find which I downloaded at the time, it seems the seller might have also been advertising on the samba.com
Perhaps you might have already seen them ?

It really is unfortunate that there is no story to this find. Where was it hiding all this time in Aliwal North, Did it go on a municipal auction or private sale, what year was it decomissioned, etc, etc

I would suggest you google the local newspaper that side and send them a pic with an article, I'm sure you will get a response from a retired medic or driver or even a patient
I did the same with my '56 ambulance and they wrote quite a nice article with a pic, I had one response, but it was'nt too helpful.

Sadly no pic of the badge or sign that might have been mounted where the holes are. I thought maybe ex military, and then municipality, but I think that their badges where mounted below. Perhaps Jaco can send some light, his ambo might be ex military .....

Cool pics, in that last pic you can see the 6 holes on the right that I am querying.

I found a link that said it was part of Thabu Prinsloo's collection. I have tried to search for this but got nothing.

Hello every one,

New on the forum and new to the air cooled world of Vw.Excited and a lot to learn.Looking at getting guidance and direction here to my new adventure.

So how did it start ,I bought a package deal consisting of a 1976 bay window executive with two spare 2L engines licensed up to date.Also got a low light bus that is stripped and ready for spray but will not continue as it has not got papers.Also got a completely redone 1600 twin port motor starts first turn and is like new.

I've decided to get the 76 to pur and be restored. Ok so first help that I need is to find who can do overhaul my carbs they are solex carbs have 6 and will do two of them.

Still trying to navigate around the forum ,where can I find suppliers and some to do the carbs in the west rand or close.

Thanks in advance and hope to do a breakfast run or meet some awesome enthusiastic people.May the VW force be with you.

Good Afternoon to all ACVWSA members

I a new on this forum, hoping to learn a lot and assist where I can.
About my rides:
I always loved the VW Beetles (had a 1978 SP and a 1959 which I regrettably sold)
Currently have a 1963 Beetle (Unfortunately not original) and also a 1983 Jurgens Autovilla. Also currently in the process to buy a 1974/5 Jurgens Autovilla which I will restore.

Hi all I have built a few AC Cobra's and a LHD Speedster for the old Venom Cars for export. I am now going to build 3 Speedsters one for me and two for colleagues at work mainly as everyday runabouts. Having issues with Universal as Garth doesn't feel the need to return my calls to discuss the purchase of the kits so I have found another kit manufacturer and will place an order for them from him.Very disappointed but let's give this guy a chance.
The focus of the cars will be to have a "Beetle" in an awesome body and use them daily.

I have in the past manufactured tooling and parts for cars for Venom Cars and can manufacture locally for better prices.

I cannot wait to get my car on the road before summer.

Currently at the upholstery shop to do a full interior make--over

Also the whitewalls fitted yesterday

The roof will also be sprayed the same colour as bumpers and rims

how about opening a Project thread, and give us the full story on the bus, how you got her and what you thinking of doing to her.

We are addicts, so never get enough info and photo's.
