My SP2 project

Post by Pine »

Well, due to (in no specific order) a serious shortage of time & $$$ and an inadequate working area at my current place of residence, my SP2 restoration project is currently not really showing any progress. On top of that, given the fact that it is pretty damn cold outside and several other undisclosed reasons (read: new girlfriend  ), I think the Forum will have my sympathy?

but...

The SP2 is still in very safe dry storage, and awaiting the next small step for man to turn into a giant leap for air cooled mankind, and after all the target date for completion (2014) is still far ahead... isn't it? :?

In the mean time, dream a little ACVW dream with me:

One day, my friends... one day soon

Do you think that there are a few up Africa that are slowly rusting away? I believe that they were imported into certain African countries...

My SP2 was found about 10 years ago in the Congo by the previous owner. It was the best of no less than THREE SP2s that were all standing together at a scrap yard. It was then put on the back of a truck under a tarpaulin and smuggled into South Africa...

In this case however, it's quite likely that a fleshy accomplice will cost Pine less, give Pine less trouble, and give Pine more action more often. ;)

Pine,
The only way to get these guys of your back is to slip a exporter story in somewhere, they will all go barking up that tree then.
By the way have you ever thought how those poor sods must feel now l about people exporting cars from their country-illegal- nogal.

Project Update: NOT MUCH UPDATES

(well, at least I got the original roof lining and carpets from IMPI's SP2 for the patterns when mine gets to that stage, still some time ahead before that)

plus -

I got the rear part of an IRS Beetle chassis

and -

a set of CHROMED Type 4 fuel injection manifolds!
