Re: Elvis the 66 Sunroof Square with a Type 127
Ai
Alot has been organised in the mean while for Elvis
Got the EFI Manifolds modiefied with WBX plenum which I am going to fit a 50mm throtle body to Or I am going to use the Early Bosch single injector Throttle As it is decided that Elvis has to Be Forced fed
Slowly but surely I am collecting parts as we come across them
The first big thing I actually want to get behind the mountain of work will be all the chrome work and that I am going to need to break the bank

Re: Elvis 66 Sunroof Squary Going Original motor
Well well
I have finally fitted all the Sunroof bits and bobs and got the sunroof to operate amazingly smooth in both open and close operation
It only took me half a day to get it to function properly
Nearly all the sunroof components has to be removed again to get the roof lining done but the main headache is behind me seeing that the roof is right
I did get the Disc brake front end and it is 4 lug so also managed to get the 4 stud rims from Sarel Wagner when I stripped his donor left hand drive Type 3 for the Transmission Only still need to fetch the Back brake assemblies from Sarel then I will use 4 x 130 all round on the Squary
So this means I also received the Newer Twin leading master cylinder with the Reservoir bottle ans brake hoses.I have to strip the front end as it is Left hand drive and bolt everything on to my Right hand drive front end
Engine wise I am not going with the 1800 Industrial 127 type 4 motor. but got a complete type 3 motor also From Sarel Wagner from his Donor Type 3
Motor wise I am going to fit a 2.1 WBX crank in to the Type 1 block and std size Pistons this will bump up the CC to around 1780cc still close to the original plan to run 1800 type 4, The plan is to build Elvis back to Original with type 3 motor and All

Re: Elvis 66 Sunroof Squary Going Original motor
Well so I had Elvis at someone that was supposed to assemble and finish the Car but instead
Lost half of my Parts and resprayed the Car and left it outside for Dead
Not that I did not pay in advance and Gave this individual a Split bus German P/V shell(Worth alot of money )
This car I collected 2 years ago 2015 January from him as mentioned alot of my Parts lost (Lets just leave it there )
All though I started Vdubtech and Could do the Full refurb Myself I still gave this individual a chance to proofe his worth as if it was built I could
not say I or Vdubtech Built Elvis but I should have collected the the Car along time ago
So
I had to start Hunting down specific PArts that I have accumulated by Buying and Selling 4 Squarebacks in the Past before Elvis was
DEliverd to individual
I started with the Same
I bought a 66 Very Rusted Squary just to get my hands on very hard to find Wide side Beadings(They are in very Bad shape but a Start)
I have loaded Elvis and Deliverd him to a Good mate of mine that is going to attend to the Body as it was painted twice and left for dead the Paint is Bad and I need to repair the Floor rusted Areas aswell
Will Post some Pics as we Go along
Eben can you pls move this thread to Vdubtech area

Looking good Pierre,
Looks as if that is fast becoming "Bugger Cooperate colour"
But it is nice.
Keep pic's coming,
Herman

That will truly look like a VW show room then.
Just waiting to see if the motor is going to stay standard.......

Re: Elvis 66 Sunroof Squary for Renay
Motor have been built more than 6 years ago
Type 3 with brand new Mahle Pistons and used a 76mm 2.1 WBX crank to bring the cc up a bit
and help with more torq for driveability
I did not wanted to use 92mm pistons as the Type 3 motors usually run hot so I opted to go larger stroke on the Crank for more cc
and with the Long ratio transmission and larger engine Capacity and 15" tyres the Car should be running much nicer
