As per the subject line, it is a 1967 Single cab. It has been in one family since new. It has always been a "plaas bakkie" and was only ever registered on the road, for the first time in 1994 by the now, previous owner and grandson of the original owner. It is a 50 year old, unmolested work horse, now retired. As I said, I will not restore it but keep it as is and do my best to retard the natural ageing process. Also fix the current issues, like fuel tank and fuel lines, fuel pump, brakes and steering. The engine was running but due to rusty, very crusty fuel tank, the fuel lines were blocked, fuel tank leaking and fuel pump faulty.....all related I believe. The PO then fitted an electric fuel pump and ran it off a fuel can

The fuel issues were all caused by this. Water and dirt enters this area...accumulates over time causing rust.

Image

The tank was shot, with so much shit inside, I thought it was half full of fuel. Once the covers and tank was removed, the consequences of the small opening left unattended was clear :(

This all came out

Unfortunately, I did not take "after" pics but the area was cleaned, vacuumed and then treated with rust converter. The load bed will be welded closed again to prevent a repeat.

In the mean time, I fitted a new fuel pump and got rid of the electrical pump and incorrect diameter fuel line. Unfortunately, the old metal line is so blocked, I could not even clear it with compressed air, so I will replace that as well. With the new fuel pump in place, the little engine starts up immediately and purrs like a kitten. Unfortunately, the exhaust is also moertoe and will be looking for a replacement.

Hey Uncle

Pay attention, forget about granny ghia on the other side of that wall.

Yours is easy. I think I took a entire 2 weekends to get this one rolling.

But I think we can allow an extension until Feb, George 2018. Then you can roll with these 2.

Now I thought you wanted to take your Autovilla to George after last year's rained out affair, leaking tents and all ???

You could also use your nice Jurgens teapot and cups and saucers.

Very nice single cab Eugene !!!!

Yes, correct sir, never again will I sleep in a tent. I will take the patina busses and I'll just make sure that my other half takes an autovilla. Then I can sleep comfortably and have dinner off all that superior Jurgens crockery.
