Hi AirCooled buddies,

It's been quite a while since I last posted something, as the process is now at the slower, but very exciting stage.

I was very privileged to visit Jaco and see his collection. I was awestruck at the cars he brought together. It is just so special and I'm so glad that someone like Jaco is collecting and putting in a lot of effort to keep the beauties in South Africa. Thanks for the help and advice Jaco. I'll probably come visit again to take some photos and get advice.

But now to my project. The assembly stage has started. Some basic stuff has been done. Enjoy the photos as I try to stay as authentic as possible to an original resto.

The wiring were refitted as the original wiring were still in good condition. The cloth covering has deteriorated over time but the main harness could be salvaged.

There is just so much unique things to these early cars. As you can see, I've located an original NOS rear deck lid locking L handle. If my wife must know what I spend on just that handle, I'm in big trouble, but we are now at the stage where right decisions need to be taken.

The petrol tank were painted, hopefully correctly, and looks beautiful.

I'll post more pictures as the build develops. ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Looking good

Now the cost just keep adding up, best to burn invoices to save the marriage........

When done, I will take my 1952, -"Lady Phoenix", on a 3000km road trip and come and have a meeting at Jaco's stash.

Jaco, you have been appointed as "Meetings Manager" for this meet.

Small things make a big difference. While I'm waiting for parts to arrive, the running boards were fitted.

Although you call them "side steps", I would hate it if people actually stepped on the runner boards!

Small steps. The crotch coolers have been assembled, and some headlights were installed.

Very nice work, and it shows in the final product.

Not the easier project to do, but you doing it exceptionally well.

Bit jealous that I did not have a complete car, like you, to start with, but still proud of what I managed to get out of a heap of scrap at the end.

Be good to see all the splits together one day, can not wait to see your car in person, will be a epic day.

Keep up the great work.
