Yeah, maybe I am overthinking it...73type2 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 30, 2018 2:47 pm You might be overthinking this. Nothing could go wrong if you unscrew the top. You'll find a sieve and gasket as in your pic above. Take them out and clean them, as well as the pump bowl. The pump looks very new so I doubt whether you need to buy any new parts.

Thanks Sean.
I can't promise anything... will have to see how itchy my fingers are when I replace all the rubber fuel line bits

Re: My Beetle, Beebo
The braking system has been redone... new slave cylinders, new brake pads, new rubber hoses. On two of the old slave cylinders, one of the pistons were stuck. Would still like to replace the single circuit master brake cylinder with a dual circuit one and also replace the piping from the reservoir.

Good going Riaan. I'm also thinking of installing dual circuit master cylinders in my Beetles, so please let me know when you find a source

Re: My Beetle, Beebo
I’ve been told that the master brake cylinder of a Mk1 Golf 17mm IIRC will work using a spacer. I think there is also some info about it on this forum from some member(s) having done it.73type2 wrote:Good going Riaan. Will post about it when I get there

Re: My Beetle, Beebo
I posted that pic before of the golf mc with the spacer but it is only usable when youve got disc brakes aswell. Something to do with a residual valve inside the master cylinder

Re: My Beetle, Beebo
Thanks. I googled it and it seems like a simple enough concept. Can these be obtained from the general parts places in South Africa?

Re: My Beetle, Beebo
that I cant tell you.
I've bought from Willwood in the past, but they are imperial threads and the locals dont have anything that will adapt...
CB performance in USA also has but I havent bought those from them yet.

Re: My Beetle, Beebo
No problem, had to look for myself as well I’m pretty sure that there should be other suppliers also.73type2 wrote:Thanks Riaan. I will keep that in mind.
