Welcome to ACVWSA tex.services. Don't forget to tell us a bit about yourself in the New Members thread.

The search function is your friend. This is a regular question.

The short answer is that nobody really knows. VWSA destroyed all its archives and has no records. Also, the SA paint code formats changed regularly over the years and some codes were also recycled, so refer to different colours in different years. Some volks here have been trying to make sense of the paint codes, and some of them may chip in here (@Dawie), and may even know what your paint code stands for.

My observation is that before 1960, locally assembled VWs largely followed the German colour palette. Post-1960 local VWs were painted with SA-made paint in SA-specific colours. I may be wrong on this, though.

Good luck with your quest and please share any info you uncover.

Any idea which colour C108 could have been? Maybe some piece of original paint somewhere on your car. We are trying to collect info on this.

Staying Aircooled is so much nicer.
