Good evening. I am looking to buy a beetle again after owning one as a student. I have finally found one in great condition but have some worries.
Is there any place that I can check that the vin number is correct for the year model and that the engine number is matching?

Re: Beetle vin and engine numbers check
www.thesamba.com/vw has VIN and engine number lists under the Technical menu.
The VIN is definitive when it comes to year model. Ignore what the papers say as they are mostly incorrect. You should also have some idea of the changes made year to year, so you'll know if a car has had a VIN or pan change so the VIN doesn't match the car's features.
VW model years ran from August to July, so a car built in August to December is the next year's model.

As Fig said, but be aware that some Beetle owners updated their cars with the late's changes to make the car appear to be a newer model.

Re: Beetle vin and engine numbers check
Evening. Thank you for your responses. It all sounds easy enough.... but I am still confused. There seem to be so many variables.
I am looking at a 1971 model.
Can I post the numbers to get some clarity.
