Louis Coetzer is not to be confused with Gerhard Ryksen of Volksie Museum.

Louis had a huge collection of classic Mercedes-Benzes and other cars (including every configuration of 1959 Chevy Impala). I was privileged to visit his private museum several times, including a tour of his other warehouses full of Mercedes-Benz classics.

My condolences to their family and friends and may their souls rest in peace.

Sad news. RIP Louis and Hermien. I also had the privilege to visit his warehouse in Bloemfontein to admire his collection many years ago.

Below a video from 2014, showing his collection:

Having watched the video posted above by Pine, I think I saw Louis at the Late Estate Bester classic car auction in Stellenbosch on 09-Nov-19. He was quite prominent because he bought a number of items, so the camera was on him a lot. The whole 6 hour auction can be viewed on YouTube. I particularly remember the stack of Mercedes hubcaps that he got, which I was also interested in, that went for about R12k. I heard afterwards that he had probably the biggest collection of hub caps in South Africa.
