Accelerator Pedal Issues
Hi Guys
Please help.
I am having issues with my accelerator pedal. The Z/bar attached to the pedal does not engage the accelerator arm properly resulting in poor acceleration.
There is also loads of play in the pedal side to side.

Re: Accelerator Pedal Issues
Strip it out and put it on a table and check it out.
Without seeing,.....me thinks the bushes are worn out. Not much in it besides the rods and bushes. Also check out where the assembly comes out the left side where the accelerator cable hooks up to the rod.......2 bolts into the tunnel through an oval assembly plate.
Don't always know the correct names,..but you should see it

Re: Accelerator Pedal Issues
Batman,...its been a while,........check on right side .....should be bolts as well onto floor.
Remove cables,.... then you need to fettle it out from right side,.....not easy when in the car,.... will look at a spare assembly that I have .....can't think of anything else now
Don't forget the accelerator cable link to come off the shaft from lrft side

I tried getting it off. Maybe I should just use some force

Re: Accelerator Pedal Issues
Ah ok then it may have a slight mushroom head. (PO probably didn't have the circlip so he mushroomed the ends so that it wouldn't work loose)
If so try to file it down and use a centre punch to tap it through

Re: Accelerator Pedal Issues
You know ....here in the eastern cape we love angle grinders ,,
If the punching or levering with two big screw drivers don't do the trick ...then it's a good time to test your gringing skills !!!!!.....just put a flap disk on and be GENTLE !!
Talk to us !!
