Seems this thread is very slow but I had a very good day. After meeting a 'n older VW aircooled junkie in 2016, he showed me his Hazet 500 among a lot of other delectable tools and parts. I fell in love immediately with the Hazet 500 suitcase and knew I just had to have it.

Up until then I did not knew much about it, but after a few Google searches and Fig's writeup on Samba I visited this "new" friend regularly. He was not a willing seller, but time was on my side. After numerous visits and many cups of tea, he said in March of this year that I can buy it from him.

I visited again yesterday and low and behold, a deal was struck and I am now the new owner. Luckily the set is complete and most of the tools still have their "Hazet" stickers.

I am fully aware that I am just a custodian for the time being, but will enjoy this beauty in my display for the next few years.

Oh Yes, we going to cut off the roof,

Add extra wide mud guards on the front and the back,

Fit a Ford V6 motor

Twin double exhausts

Fit a triple air foil on the back

make it matt black with shocking pink upholstery

Oh and fit a big boom box to rattle the windows......

Fantastic find Rudi! It's even nicer than the complete set I found a few years back. Shows they are still out there to be found!

Yours looks like the same layout as mine, which dates it to about 1954-1958. In 1958 the VW mechanics tool set was renamed Hazet 2500.

Found this at Milnerton flea market today. For now, the plan is to clean it up and use it.

Nice find - an old Japanese HAZET Assistant replica Hory Caddy RC-101 from around the 1990s.
The knobs to lock the upper deck are missing at the top, otherwise it remains wobbly as a shelf.

Man, I’m drooling at your Hazet collection! Not even mentioning the aircooled eye candy in the background. Thanks for the description of my Caddy. I’m planning on making up the missing parts.
