Interesting story I saw on FB

"The 'Namibian' Hebmüller Hunting Vehicle [In Brief]
by Bob Shaill

'Günther Schaffler' ran a locksmith business in 'Windhoek', 'Namibia'. A customer gave him a photo of an abandoned VW Hebmüller seen on a farm near a village called 'Kalkfeld'.
The next day, and after a long drive, Günther and his helpers, finally came across the vehicle. She was indeed a sorry sight, with a lot of rust. In order to remove the vehicle, a tree had to be cut down. Several hours struggling in the heat, the Heb and what could be salvaged from around the wreck, was loaded up ready for a long trip home.
The next day Günther gave the Heb a good look over. Luckily, the doors, engine cover, and hood frame were still there.
In 1996 he commissioned his friend to restore it for him. Sadly, the original chassis was deemed beyond repair, so a replacement chassis and drive-train were found. The vehicle is pictured with some replacement panels, just to give some idea what she would eventually look like. [Sadly, the Hebmüller's original chassis and body numbers were not recorded].
The history of the car is still a mystery, but what is known, it was used on a farm as a hunting vehicle. A rifle clip was found still attached to the underside of the dashboard.
It's thought the vehicle probably broke down and was abandoned by it's owner."
