OK, neither my Father nor I have the info on KL pins...

Seeing as how I have balljoint - real men use balljoints - I'm accustomed to simply swapping them out.

Pray tell dear lads, where do I find the KL pins, and what exactly am I looking for?

Are they repaired or replaced?

jack the tyre off the ground then push and pull on it to find if there is any movement. Then trace that movement to either the bearings or the king and linkpins. They are the linkage items that the balljoints replaced

I'll jack it up on SAT and check it out.

First two things on the list...

1. The above.
2. The entire shifting system...gearbox, bushing, coupler...

If the bearings/pins are gone, can I get the kit here, and what sort of pricing am I looking at?

Considering it's 41 yrs old, I'm assuming it'll be stuffed anyways.

bearings... take the old ones and seals to bearing man and get new ones... about R200 per side.

Linkpins... R800 plus (not sure how much now-a-days), and you cant do this at home!!!!

you need to press out the bushes, then press in new ones, then ream them to size

If you spend the money now, the car will treat you well for a long time afterwards.... then it will be cheap. Spent the money, things stop breaking and become reliable. Penny pinch and the car will keep braking and costing you more and more money

R800 for link pins?! Geeez ... either the prices have sky rocketed since I last did my link pins or someone is getting ripped off.

I do my own king and linkpin installation with some hand made tools (including reamer).
IIRC it cost me less than R300 for both sides last time I did mine.
R500+ for labour sounds like profiteering.

If you hold your wheel at 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock and move it side to side I think that means the bearings are gone. If you hold the wheel at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock and move it side to side I think its the king and link pins. I may have this the wrong way around, but I'm sure somebody will rectify me if I have got it wrong.
