Re: My Type three
Hi all after some hibernation I spent a lot of time on the fastback.
The chassis is rolling now and only the brakes need the final touches. The grey stuff on the pan is a tar torch on coating used for sealing flat concrete roofs. it is very similar to the original tar on the floors which was removed prior to sandblasting. the finish on the pan is 2k black with stone chip on the bottom.

Re: My Type three
Wow that looks great. Where is that intercooled from. It looks similar to the one in my S4.

Re: My Type three
That intercooler has arkay cast into it and I know that arkay was a US aftermarket supplier other than that I picked it up at Ferdi's swop meet last year.

Re: My Type three
The attention to detail on this car is just amazing
Thanks for the pics IMPI, it's about time that people build cars of this calibre here in South Africa
It's looking really awesome, can't wait to see this beast in action
What car is that fuel pump from? Are you no longer using the one from the Colt Bakkie

Re: My Type three
That pan and all the work looks fantastic, good stuff must run like a dream with all the improvements over the factory item.

For what it's worth, ignorance has no limits ......

Re: My Type three
Hi all due to various reasons I have decided to put my fastback up for sale.
It needs basically an interior (the stock seats are still very good as well)and final assembly to be able to run.
It has
An uncracked dash
bmw BRONZE METALLIC PAINT
4 wheel disc brakes Imported rear hubs and gti calipers fronts are std type three
golf master cylinder
Nos balljoints all other suspension parts are either new or perfect
IRS rear suspension with Brazilia gearbox new mounts etc
suspension lowered front and rear
new rubbers everywhere almost
2liter rebuilt stock type four engine (hasnt even been started yet)
Gotech FI
t3 turbo and inter cooler
revcounter in dash
I want R18000

Re: My Type three
I have seen this car, and can vouch for the quality of the paint, the stance etc etc. This was the car that got me hooked on fastbacks! It really is that good. Trust me, the price is excellent, you won't be able to build something with the same spec for R18k. I would love to buy it, unfortunately I can't afford it at the moment! If anyone here buys it, please give me a ride in it
