I think the one important thing one needs to remember when it comes to a new engine, is that there are 2 types of engines, one built by a parts assembler and one built by an engine builder, the latter being the only option.
For what it's worth, ignorance has no limits ......

Whilst many of the private engine builders are producing top- notch work, I wonder how many of them are "professional engine builders"as such.
More likely, and better so, most of them are self taught boffins who started off fiddling with a Zundapp years ago and just grew know-how from there. Probably most have "University of hard knocks " degrees, and have done their own development work and re-search over the years. I have found that some of the best of these type of guys are not even time served qualified mechanics , and the mechanical interest spring from hobbies that they developed a lifelong passion for.

Pops had dealing with VEE Motors way back in the late 80s if I'm not mistaken.

Wasnt a good experiance. He'd bought a T4 2.0l engine and as a special deal you had to redo it yourself after it packed up.

What put me off was the guarantee - that is not enough km's to put my mind to rest. anyone can assemble a motor that will run a few km's (guaranteed).
