Still busy fitting tin worm.

All the top fixes have been weld in. Now the body is upside down to tackle what one could not see.

I also received all the motors tin plates from the powder coaters.

Tom, before you fit the motor, why don't you try to get a fan shroud without heater pipe outlets?
That's if you want to go the "original look" way!
Just my thought for the morning

This Car is meant to have air heaters. Pre 74 had a gas heater in the boot upfront.

74 and after had a normal beetle heater. Only the exhaust pipes come out the side of the silencer not the rear. If you look at my last pics, you will see the pipes under the rear seats for letting the air in.

BTW try going to buy heater parts for a beetle. Everybody want to know why. They tell you beetle heater dont work well. Getting cool air into a beetle was a problem. Hot air was never.

Who out there runs heaters in their VW?

All the heater boxes out there have holes in. The shops tell you they will work, you just need to fill the holes and give me money for this scrap.

Before I stripped the 181 only 1 side was working. IT sure is good travelling next to the ocean on a cold morning, top down, with warm air wafting around you. (from the heaters)

I wish I had heaters in the DarkSide..... But then again Darren in winter I have a very good airconditioner and in summer a superb heater....... WTF? In summer the hot air that is trapped in the bonnet flows threw and in winter this hot air turns to subzero temp, wich nessesitates driving with a blanket.......

This Weekend I had a few hours to spare. The sump guard and the lower tin plating got fitted. Its a pity when you have to stop when on a roll, I never had the oil cooler rubbers but still fitted the top covers to see how it would look.
