That is the XJC, one of the more popular and harder to find XJ's they also came with the V12 engine. Trim levels was same as regular XJ, even had the Van Den Plass. Dailmer had their version too, the V12 was known as the Double six. We had a few that passed thru over time, there is a waiting list for them. Of all the XJ's that is the one I would want.

cant see the pic, but my dad had a double 6 for a while.... its real 'old school' car . the v12 goes like hell, despite only a 3 speed box. the brake s were pretty poor, and it used to start creeping at the traffic lights. Interior spec was really comfortable and nice, but definitely not spacious.

Many Jaguars in SA were butchered by fitting Chevy engines. A lot of complete running cars were also used as donors for building street rods, cobras etc because the suspension is easy to adapt.

Yet you can still get a fairly reasonable running example for R 8000. Keep in mind that the two petrol tanks will be empty, of course...

Some years ago, like in 1995 or so, CAR magazine had an article sent by a reader about how he bought an old XJ6 for song and spent more than triple of the initial amount on trying to fix it up. It was always one thing after the next

Eventually, he cut his losses and sold it for a steal...

2-door just like in your pic. The last time I saw one was years ago, and someone had hacked the roof off and added a Chevy V8.

I'm pretty sure if one ever passed me before, I would have noticed. It is a very stylish car, I can only imagine how good it will look in a factory cabrio version.

Friend of mine got the 4 door but only got 110 000 on the clock. Those cars chew tyres, bad on brakes and carbs always needs attention, tipcal english cars. But then they are nice and pleasing on the eye. The interior of those are also outstanding.
