The checking of the oil I was referring to was if you have a problem with the needle/seat or floats not being 100% an the fuel getting into the sump and damaging things. Check this post

Last night I replaced the metal intake gaskets that came with the elring set with the thick bakelite ones. I think they cleared up the intake leak there but the engine is still really noisy (not the carbs)

Is it just me or does 32Nm for the head studs not feel very tight?
I would have thought that something that has to contain explosions would at least feel tight ......

If the book says 32 then it must me 32, if you start to over-tighten then the sleeves start to eat into the heads and uneven seating an loss of compression, I hope you used locktite on those bolts, recheck the torque on those bolts after 1000 km, hopefully you have no oil leaks.

Also remember, it is not an explosion like in the movies it's more a controlled ignition. An explosion would rip you motor apart where as a controled ignition gets you to the finnish line with everything intact and firing nicely.
