I have ceramic coatings on the pistons and inside the combustion chambers. In theory the ceramics will only melt at 2000 degrees C. I have a piston at home that has been done in with a cutting torch, the ceramic coated side is ok, the uncoated side in obviously destroyed.
Alluminium melts at 600 degrees C, I think. Where's our metallurgist friends?
