Tom, is your 181 staying original? Looking at the prices of things (no pun intended) a restored original is worth a lot, but other than prices and money, you'll end up with something of huge value. Your pan looks great! Have a good Christmas and pass on our best wishes to your family and your parents please.

The 181 is original. I am even keeping the drums all round. I think the only non 181 part is the shocks. All the the parts are stock 181 or 181 vw after market. eg sump guard.

This public holiday I got to finish the rear suspension, fit the gear box, CV's, and the rear brake pipes.

The whole rear is 181. All the parts look like irs Beetle but are beefier. You can see the ground clearance from this setup. Even this the suspension bottoming out the driveshafts will only lay in the horizontal position.

Last night I were going to work on the Kubel. At about 6 my wife and kids fetched me from work. We watched the sun set with St Elmos and then were of to Adderley street for the Lights.

Ok the body and chassis are now together. Easy when you know how. Jack up rear of body. Then get a couple of strong oaks (HR and Tom) to lift the front, while Tom jnr places 6 tyres under the front bumper. Next, parralel park the chassis under the elevated body. Now remove one tyre at a time until front of body is in position on the chassis. Then you lower the jack at the rear and hey prestow the body is on. In just over 2 hours the job was done. Now the race is on for George. Good Luck Tom.

Just before we started a strange fellow came enquiring about the yellw buggy parked in the street. I t was none other than Renier Dev who lives around the corner from Tom's workshop.

Renier, hope you came right with the rear bumper messurements. We actually forgot to call you when we realised the body placement was actually quite a simple job.

Dutch Driver, I did call and leave a message for your help, but you must of missed it.

no worries HR, i'm just glad to hear that you came right with the job

And thanks again HR for letting me measure your buggy bumper,

I never thought that I would actually meet members of ACVW in person but i'm glad I did.

Tom if you need any help, just give me a call and I would gladly come and give you a hand.
