Thats my 1776 standing now, something went wrong on the way back to PTA, sounds like i could be firing on only 2 cylinders under load, idles fine.

I'm beginning to wonder if super stock isn't the way to go, ie only bolt on parts allowed and leave it 1600.

I finally got Daisy (67 double cab) back on the road on Saturday, after two years of standing. Daisy is so rusty and abused that there's always something going wrong on her. Two years ago I took her off the road after several reduction box mounting bolts broke (DPO replaced the original high tensile bolts with mild steel bolts ). What should have been a relatively quick repair became a transmission replacement ... and then a brake overhaul ... and then a fuel tank replacement. Every time I fixed something, something else broke.

But now Daisy's back! She drove us back to Jhb from the farm on Sunday evening. She still has some bugs in her lecktrickery (no indicators and only one taillight working) and she started misifiring over the last few kilometres (probably a loose connection at coil or condensor), but those should be quick fixes.

started the bug to drive it back in (couldnt push it uphill). Maybe oneday I will have the time to actually drive the car.

Was it my heads by any chance?

So did you succeed in getting the stuck brake drum loose?

So did you succeed in getting the stuck brake drum loose?

I never did. That drum defeated my super monster hub puller; even after strengthening the puller I only succeeded in damaging the puller further.

I ended up replacing the entire transmission drum to drum (the main shaft bearing was noisy, so it was due for replacement anyway).

This past weekend I got all of Daisy's lecktrickery working as it should. Also carried a big load of parts, including two engines, wheels and tyres, brake discs, etc. Daisy carried the load without complaint.

I had a go at adjusting the clutch cable on the Panel today. The adjusting nut ended up being seized to the thread on the cable so I made up a couple of "C" washers which I fitted between the adjusting nut and the clutch arm. I also unbolted the gear lever and gave the ball-and-socket end a good clean and re-greasing and then reset the gate - doesn't seem to be popping out of 4th anywhere near as bad now! I also tidied up the dodgy seat brackets on the front seats. They are far more secure now but still not perfect. I bought new interior light bulbs but the two above the driver and front-seat passenger don't work for some reason - will get stuck into the wiring there soon. Was a good day tinkering on the bus!

Yesterday I put on one right-rear backing plate that I sanded, treated and painted and repaired the spring clip for the star adjusters. Put the seals in and the cover and bolted everything up. Stood back to admire my work (first time doing it remember) then I realised, I put the backing plate on the wrong corner. It is actually for the left-rear.

Painted the sides of the doors.
And then out with the old and in with the new

Sandblasted and painted my steering box today.
it was 40 degrees here and not fun sandblasting but the end result was great !











looks like brand new !

looks great - now you have to do the whole front beam ..................
