Re: ALMOST THERE
i was trying to get the classic royale gauges but they cost like R1000 each so id rather look past that as lots have been spent on this car alwedy. As for the rev counter it is on a rather odd position but i want to keep the dash as original as possible.
and then as for the interior i went with that colour because that is the colour that was in the car, the only diferrense is that it now has geniune leather.
thanks for the crits, its much appreciated. i mean if no one crits how can i do it better the next time.
But this car as a complete package has huge amounts of power and im liking it just the way it is. it has everything one needs in a bug.

Hey Goblin,
great car dude..fantastic workmanship and attention to detail. Love the interior - is completely different and will stand out for sure!!
Thanks for the video clip - although the rear wheels look a bit high - whats up with that?? But, wow does she sound hardcore man..
BTW, have you kinda kept tabs on your expenses?? Would it be inappropriate to ask what you spent on this baby as a round estimate?? Will give the guys a good idea of what it takes to get a car to such high levels of finishing...
Happy miles man!!

Re: The gauge issue - I would have used a Porsche 924/944 revcounter and some VDO gauges. Not too expensive to buy...
But that's just me.
Enjoy your Oval Goblin. Unlike others who always whine about buying an Oval, you have gone out and bought one and fixed it up to how you want it to look like

Re: ALMOST THERE
its still high because i havnt decided on which wheels to put on. once we have the wheels i will lower it so that it has just the right stance im looking for.
so for without wheels and some minor bits i think we talking in the region of 60k. if you go back and just look at what i started with i think its worth evry penny.
as for those that say why didnt i put this and that in, why didnt you offer if you had when u saw i started with this project.
if i see someone needs something or if i can assist ill be willing, but thats just me...

Re: ALMOST THERE
I know of a cheap way of buying yourself up to 1 sec. on a 1/4 mile, semi slicks. I managed to get a pair of Bridgestone RE55s for my buggy, about R1,300 per 16' tyre. DOT rated of course.goblin wrote:Love.....Hate doesnt really matter, as long as i know i would be kicking vtecs asses its all good. im sure these going to be a lot more haters after i have done that. let alone by a 1956 VW BEETLE. Re: ALMOST THERE
Ya, but then you have to have the car as a toy or have two sets of tires. Semi slicks in the rain are scary. 185's on a bug at 100km/h causes a bit of aquaplaning. tread is important on a daily...JohnHoffe wrote:I know of a cheap way of buying yourself up to 1 sec. on a 1/4 mile, semi slicks.
From fastest to slowest:
Birkin race car, not much is standard
Lotus Elise 111R, almost everything is standard
'75 SP 1600 with a few mods
B8 A4 Avant tdi, towing made easy
