Finally got my webers to fit after modifying the fan shroud and shortening hood hinge springs.
(to accommodate air filters) Also needed to make up shortened 13mm spanner to tighten rear
nuts at carb inlets. Now I'm wondering if I need to remove everything when I decide to change plugs.
Always wanted twin carbs, now the fun starts with the tuning.

Go to Jurgen, he says the twin carbs are easier than a single... Dave Rowley can help too. I see you are running a vacuum advance, where are you getting a vacuum signal from?
Ah yes, the 13mm shorty... BTW, do check that the inlet manifold nuts are tight on a regular basis, they tend to loosen because of the weight and vibration of the "twin towers", and then you get air ingress. 12mmAF nylock nuts do the trick.

I did some data-logging last weekend and I'm not happy with the AFR, still running lean in spots and very rich in others. Need some updates to the map and see if I can improve it. Overall I have made some progress. . . but need some more work.

Damaged a oil ring, fitting the piston into the sleeve last night, will need to wait before this motor is closed up.
Realy pissed off, in all the years of building motors, this this is a first, had to be on a motor I realy wanted to fit & run before the weekend. Bummer, would have been a record turn around time, will see if Cords will be able to help out this afternoon, fingers crossed.

Genny ran bearings thanks to amateur mistake (fanbelt too tight, grrrrrr), pulled genny to try and get at bearings, couldn't figure out how to open genny, ended up killing the thread on the shaft. Thus, replacement genny required....how does the saying go: act in haste, repent at leisure?

Picked up my new watercooled VW last night, needs an engine rebuild but very happy.
Got to work this morning, received a phone call from an interesting character saying that they have accepted my offer on a D/C Kombi that I was after
FML. No cash but too many cars...
It never ends.

How can you make an offer on something if you don't have the cash?

That offer was made when I saw the car two months back, had the cash then

Why don't you give the details, maybe someone else here will be keen.

Yes, well there is that. Do have a look around the forum, much was said about the 009 (good-no good and tuning) and many stories about failing electronic ignition modules, particularly the little jobbies that live (briefly) inside the dizzie.
You'll need a degreed pulley or some fancy geometry knowledge to mark off 28-32 degrees.
