You can see here how bad the original had gone & how much weaker it had become, its surprising what you can hide with filler:-

I mixed some paint & painted it under the seat area to test it:-
The colour is a little out but its not to bad, I think I'll get a better match next time.
I fitted some Riv-nuts to the panel so that the new paint wont get damaged by the screws when I fit all the accessories back on:-
I've also put some paint on the window frames to protect the etch primer as primer is pours & I don't want any more rust setting in in the damp air:-

The cab is all scotch padded & panel wiped & masked now ready for paint:-
The pedal isn't masked because I am going to take it off, I've masked the steering wheel in such a way I can still turn it.
The back is also ready:-
Started to clean up & prep the Sliding Door, I will be taking the Westy Strip off:-
The tailgate is prepped up, I am considering drilling out the holes for the standard Volkswagen Script before painting:-

Started on the engine Lid, I'm thinking of making the hinge pins smaller & then sleaving them with some clear plastic sleeve. That way the paint won't wear off them in the future:-
Picked up my paint last night from Huzzies, its Mipa 2K:-

I panicked a bit when I fist opened the lid as it looked brown, luckily it stirred up OK:-
Two panels are almost ready:-
I spent about 6 hours on the engine lid, the previous painter hadn't cleaned out the hard to reach areas & they were full of oil, waxoil, then paint then more waxoil & then more oil. Its all clean now I just need to get the no. plate off:-

The cab area is now ready & I'll paint it tomorrow afternoon once I've finished work:-
Davey started flatting the last panel today:-
The roof is now all scotched up:-
I got to address this dent that I caused by taking off the pop top, Gavin will weld pin pullers to it & pull it out:-

Got Milly from her usual spot where she has been living the last month & into the spray booth, got the accelerator pedal off blew the whole cab out with air & cleaned the floor down again with panel wipe. Put the booth up to 20 C. Gavin mixed the correct radio of hardener, paint & thinners & filtered it for me & filled up the pot:-
Painted my buddy seat parts:-

I'll address this once its all dry, I know its behind the seat & you can't see it but I still want it right.

It doesn't look like I've done much today but I've spent about 5 hours on the inside of the bus just prepping it for paint, rubbed the runs out, scotched the window frames etc up, panel wiped it & masked it all up, still some masking to do tomorrow & then I'll paint the rest of the cab, then its down to the boys to paint the rest, in the mean time I can prep the cab doors & then on to the pop top.
