After 5 hours of wrestling, wrangling, cursing and barking my knuckles I managed to get my fuel tank out of the back. A pair of hidden screws beneath the bulkhead kept me busy for a while. Everything else seemed to be stuck, glued, corroded in place or just cantakerous
Does anyone know why the two thin copper pipes are connected to the top of the tank? They go all the way up to the inside of the air intake vents at the back, then go through a thicker section and return back into the depths.

hitlers revenge wrote:So this weekend was a eekend of strip and repair.
Opil sorted first as this is my wifes car. Then pulled the busses motor to find that the big end of number 3 piston had snapped and smashed the egde of the barrel as well as making a nice hole in the barrel guide in the block. This we cannot repair over night so we moved onto the Ghia.
Replaced the broken clutch cable. The cable was not "broken". It was just like the last 3 that I have had. The cable keeps pulling out of the front hook.
Anybody else have this problem. I t cannot be a supplier problem as I have used different suppliers of the cables.
Anyway, now we have more @#$%^^%$$#$%^^^%#%$, as the Ghia is standing in the same place it was on Friday on the N1.
This time the brakes have locked. Obviously the rubber seal at the fromt of the master cylinder has come adrift from the plunger.
Once again I am in the Opil.
PS. Thanks for the concern Thumper. I will collect the car tonight when the traffic has subsided.
Anybody have any advice as to the removal of the Darksides spirits that have been awakened around my parking lot.
It must be a celebratery time of the "Demise of the Dark Side". (Is it a year thats passed already?????)

Well I'm sick of being either rained on or sun-burned while working on the project so I gathered up all the lumps of steel and wood that were laying about and making the place look scruffy. I got my great garden executive chappie to dig some holes and plant some of the sticks in gooey concrete.
I have a large, used piece of shadecloth and a couple of reclaimed lumps of corrugated sheet stashed away somewhere. With a bit of effort I might knock together a type of roof/cover/shade thingy during the week, let's see. Just keeping the rain off the old bus will be worth it, some sun protection couldn't hurt either.

After weeks of planning, cutting, fitting, sanding, I eventually fitted the new kickpanels with the speakers in Petrus.
If it carries on like this, I might eventually again have some music in my car.
Normally, it would take about two solid days to build these, but I had to use the free time between playing with customers' toys.
I took out the carpets and will fit new carpets to match the black carpet on the panels.
The speakers are Rockford Fosgate Prime 6½" coaxials and are mounted in an angled position for better sound directionality.

Yesterday I drilled out (the two on the right ) of the bolts that broke off in the chassis. They hold the front bumper to the '67 Variant. The two on the left I'll do when there is time. I also took of the 32 PDSITM 2 and 3 Carbs and started cleaning them last night. Finished about an hour ago. Had to cut a gasket for the PDSIT 2 from 0.8mm gasket sheet. I tried searching the web to see how thick it should be and the other carb was about that thick. Next step, wiring. (oh yes, i'll have to fit in the car, how do i remove the seat, is it supposed to slide out or what?

Get some one to hold down the lock clip, its next to the seat, near the handbrake, push it down, as well as pulling up the chair adjuster lever thats under the seat, wail you sit on the back seat and push the chair forward.
Will slide right out, may have to spray tracks with Q20 1st.
