Hi, my name is Jens.
I´m living near to Vienna, Austria. The city of Mozart and Orson Welles "The Third Man", you know. My ride is a ´64 Karmann Ghia 34, the "Big Karman" or Razor Edge. It original colour was arcona white but my brother who restored it in the mid80´s painted it lotoswhite L282. A colour which I really like. Its engine is now a 1641 double 40Webered with a 294°Camshaft, extern Oilcooling and some 80HP.. I call an original VDO Tacho and a KARO rear decklid rack my own. A digital
oiltemperature gauge and an intervall wiper controller is hidden behind the Blaupunkt radio front..
It is a daily driver but from december to march I store it in the dry garage. You know, sometimes there fall such little white cristalls from the sky here in Austria..
I am very active here in a german forum which is called http://www.generation-luftgekuehlt.deand the http://www.aircooled-nation.com.
So stay aircooled

Hi Jens, welcome to the Forum! The Type 34 is truly one of my favourites - certainly not a lot of them in South Africa. Hope you'll have a lot of fun here!

Hi all, just joined the club,Suzie sent me your address. Bought a 1970 kombi single cab pick up, one owner from new, still licensed and on the road, the old fellow who owned it had a 2 litre motor fitted otherwise left it completely alone. My wife and her father thought i was mad until I brought it home, luckily he owns a motor spares shop so sourcing new parts is fine, but to find original parts is a nightmare especially as I've been surfing the net every night, my phone bill!
THEN, I found ACVWCSA! So the hunt begins! All heating pipes are gone, all interior switches work by connecting the bare wires, the windows have "army" type straps to pull the windows up,no keys but I'm chuffed! Lots of fun. All of this for R5500.oo
I had a lime green 1600 bug nearly 30 years ago and I've never forgotten how it was just so honest a car it was,so when I heard about this Kombi for sale, I thought that I couldn't even buy a trailer for the price? So you will definetely be hearing more from me! Thanks-incrediblebob

Hi Bob, welcome to the Forum! I see you are in Vereeniging - there is a Brasilian single cab Bay Kombi that they are stripping at the yard on the De Deur road - their prices are not too bad, and it is not far from where you stay. Maybe worth a look?
