SP got new axle boots, fresh tranny oil, headlights now working took it for a looooong drive, pissing oil like the Exon valdez, thanks to crappy spring loaded push rod tubes, boy I hate this crap, NOTHING BEATS STOCK PUSHROD TUBES.

1776cc just itching to go in.
34 twin Solex carbs cleaned serviced, setup and puring.
Notch got new carpets, linkage adjusted, ready for KKK, just need a wash LOL, several years of dirt on it ATM.

jmvv wrote:When Petrus' generator died, it was a good excuse to fit the alternator that I had lying around.
I had it overhauled by Caelex in Pretoria (R700), got an alternator stand from Andreas and we were set.
Removed the decklid hinges to lift the fan housing out. Al in all it took twenty minutes to have the fan housing on the shop floor.
Fitted the alternator and found that the fan interferes with the housing, so swopped the gennie fan in.
Then the oil filler nut would not budge. Asked Werner Alker for help - found the nut to be seized, so he supplied me with a replacement.
Refitted everything and ran new 8 AWG wire from alternator to battery, bypassed the old voltage regulator (the alternator is internally regulated) and started it - now it's got some 'lectric.
Modified a cement chisel to use as a tool to tighten the filler nut. For the first time in six years that is now VAS as I could never get the original to tighten.
The biggest hassle is to refit the deck lid spring - a BITCH of a job.
Nice Job !
Which battery are you running in Petrus ?

Not today but last week. . . . Did some data logging of AFR's and adjusted the computer's mapping a bit. Idle and low refs mot what I want yet.
Washed her yesterday for Angela's picnic today. The trip from Witbank to Angela's and back was a few km's short of 300 and the still lies above quarter tank so I would guess more than 10km/l. Clutch is slipping when my foot gets to heavy so I should change or modify it ASAP.

Decided today to tackle the battery tray in my 71 Ghia. PO put in a patch panel with 3mm steel but didn't bother to straighten the remaining panel.

After making a template from some mdf and then a lot of banging with the hammer I ended up with this.

Still need to remove the rest of the remaining panel to finalise the fit but that will be left for another night.
