Hi, my name is Johann
I am based in Centurion.
I drive a '69 1500 Beetle called Petrus. Petrus was first spotted by my wife about eighteen months ago, parked on a street corner as a derelict and abused shadow of a Bug. I bought the car with the intention of fixing it up as a shop runabout, but things got slightly out of hand.
Petrus now boasts new green paint, restored rostyles with trim rings and brand new 165X15 tyres, rebuilt brakes, Monroe gas shocks, all new rubbers and seals, new black interior with NXGEN bucket seats and inertia reel seat belts, custom gauge cluster, classic wood rim steering, central locking, full sound system (competition quality but understated).
So far we have put about 13000km on the car. The engine is still the unit that was in the car when I bought it ( a single port 1600) but plans for a bit more power (maybe a lot more power) are ander way. The most important thing to do now is to fit disc brakes, but I want to retain the rostyles.
Pictures will follow later.
Looking forward to a lot of support and interaction.
Johann

Hi guys im a newbie and I dont wanna be a party pooper but im busy with a conversion on my beetle.
I have a datsun 1400 water cooled motor that was my first project though i do have another that my elder brother gave me yesterday with an air cooled motor but for now im going to complete the conversion. I left this conversion for too long now as I bought another beetle after that and fixed that one which i rode for a couple of years. I sort of neglected this project. I will post some foto`s soon LOL i owe it to this beetle as it was my first.
