No updates for 2014 as yet????Surely those first couple of pieces have already set by now? We are hanging on a limb here waiting for some updates on some more "awesomeness"! There are still two BEEG questions that is to be answered: 1) Colour - but we'll wait for the final pictures, and 2) What goes into the boot - what is your plans engine wise?

Hopefully the only "itch" you will have this year is to wrap it all up?

A small update:
After trying to figure out how much to shorten the beetle pan and looking at rusty pans I took the plunge and decided that a custom chassis will be my way forward. I turned the wreck upside down and started fabricating brackets to pick up on all the points I think important (time will tell if I was correct) Bought R3500 worth of steel and started.
Made 10 x 100mm plates for the front beam


Same for the rear


Placed it all on the upside down car and welded the lot together after a Gazillion measurements

After separating it from the car I was left with this

I then placed all my previously moulded bits onto it and am very happy It Probably will work

Engine tray in correct position

Rear engine compartment and inner wheel wells will fit after trimming

Front under bonnet area

Rear fire wall fits as well

Front suspension fits at correct camber

Front inner speaker panel and sill


There are a lot of minor bits still to be added before I fabricate but it is heart-warming to see everything fit so well

I think this "Hands-on-Engineering" is much better than "Fabrication 404" (eliminating any "tref-&-trap"). That is a job well done, we shall keep on peeping from the Pavilions.

Glad to see you've started again. Going to be one hell of a Toy!
