Oi! The only time I've sat next to the road is just after I bought my bus...

The factory idea of earthing failed my fuel guage, hence I read higher than I was. ;)

I balance my high fuel costs against non-ownership of an AA membership card. ;)

...sooo, how long until my title changes Tony? :P

'k - not the ones I was thinking of then. ;)

Rolling an OG bug, or has it been mod'd?

...sad that, how few nice OG 1500 '67s are left.

Those 1500-fitted discs were just too tempting to peeps in the past.

ZA 1300 '67s are interesting bugs. They use the old 'W' 'lid, and have some 'older' styling cues, no discs, and were built locally, while 1500 '67s were all imported into ZA, fyi. :)

Thanks Merlin.... you right it has some interesting bits ......

Am thinking of keeping it as original as I can ... maybe with a decent MAG ?

Can you recommend any good beetle refurbishes?

Reburbishes?

Is the body/paint that bad?

If it's decent as-is, get it professionally polished, and I don't mean the local carwash, and roll it as is, stock smoothies (rims) and all. ;)

If you still want to get it "restored" - and that word has many different meanings, I've been recommended Hannes Schnetler for professional vintage work, otherwise I can recommend a few smaller - shop-wise, and pocket-wise places.

Cheers, N.

Hi everyone!

Post by Paul Freathy »

Hi There! I'm Paul Freathy. I live in Sandton, wife and child in tow and I've been a fan of Beetles for years and years! I've just returned from a couple of years in the Seychelles, working, and decided to buy myself a Beetle when I returned, instead of some fancy plastic new car. Well, I'm delighted. I had Chris at Beetle Buddies make me up a two tone cream 1976 bug, with amtching interior, and I was it almost everyday! It's a fabulous little car, and I'm proud to drive it.

I work as a TV producer / presenter / lecturer so being slightly eccentric comes with my job! Everyone comments on my little Budster, and I don't blame them, it's so sparkly it always looks new!

THanks for letting me join this forum!
