Some more parts were ordered from Jake Raby today. Waiting on webcam in the states to come back with some info and then I can order that and the cam gear.
Things are picking up speed now.............got the temp engine almost done so that will be able to go in soon. Next week if all goes well.
Stay tuned.

I have found when dealing directly with big suppliers directly like CB, Webcam and the like is a real pain, they are only interested in bulk orders and couldn't give a shit dealing with single queries/orders, found it much easier dealing with their agents as they are prepared to do small sales and are helpfull, don't expect any reply any time soon, why don't you deal with Jake Raby for the cam, if there is someone who knows what is best for you is him.
For what it's worth, ignorance has no limits ......

I'd love to order the cam through jake, hell I even know which one I want as he was the one who suggested it to me, but on his site this is what you find when you click on camshafts.calooker wrote:I have found when dealing directly with big suppliers directly like CB, Webcam and the like is a real pain, they are only interested in bulk orders and couldn't give a shit dealing with single queries/orders, found it much easier dealing with their agents as they are prepared to do small sales and are helpfull, don't expect any reply any time soon, why don't you deal with Jake Raby for the cam, if there is someone who knows what is best for you is him.
The Type 4 Store currently does not offer camshafts or lifters for the Type 4 engine. Please consult Web Cam at 951 369 5144 for a camshaft to fit your needs. For further information pertaining to this please see our forums.
I got another contact number for them which I'll try today.

Something arrived this morning at the post office. It's either the bearing sets from Jake or the cam and cam gear. Total duties are R160.59, so I'm thinking that it's the bearings.
Also some updates to follow as well as I've finally finished off the locks and interior door panels. The engine will be fitted next week, so at least she'll be mobile again.
edit:
It's the bearings. From date of order to it arriving in SA was 10 days.

Awesome stuff.......one more thing I can tick off on the list of stuff to give Armand.

I'm pretty much sold on the Webcam 86a and hopefully if all pans out I should have that ordered sometime next week.Blitzkrieg_Beetle wrote:Have you thought of buying a SCAT cam and lifters?
I most probably buying my main and rod bearings from SCAT, Mahle brand
I got the Mahle main/ rod and cam bearings from type4, they were the cheapest and the shipping wasn't that much as well.

Managed to do something over the weekend. New door panels cut and fitted. Waiting for new EMPI door pulls and then I can finish this lot off and start the interior.

Door handle conversion is done and is worked 100%. Now I'm just waiting for Dirk to fit the motor and we're A for Away.
Modified Golf handle for the bonnet, I'll have something similar for the boot out back as well.

Finally a clean as she was getting dirty. I need an engine in the back to get the ass down.

Stay tuned.
